Pollinators!!

We got to walk around the Wildflower Center and see many pollinators.  We saw bees, butterflies, and many flies.  We were on the lookout for hummingbirds, but did not get to see any.  Maybe next time.  We did see many of these insects pollinating all of the flowers.  We watched the bees buzz from one flower to the next eating the nectar from each and then spreading the pollen to other flowers to help them grow.  There were so many flowers!  We especially liked going up into the tunnel to get a good view of the Center from overhead.  It was beautiful.

  3. It was the best day ever we did see a lot of insects. I saw a green butterfly. I wonder if Mrs. Johnson ever had a butterfly on her shoulder?

You Rock!! I am truly enjoying seeing your pictures and reading about your adventures at the STEM Academy. As a principal (from Brooke--Go Lions!), you think about how neat it would be for kids to get their hands dirty with engineering, science, technology and math; but, it is really hard work to plan an Academy!

Please know that all your principals (Allan, Allison, Brooke, Govalle, Metz, Ortega, Sanchez and Zavala) love having you at the STEM Academy! We are truly grateful to your teachers and the STEM team--Ms. Stephens and all the helpers!

Our hope is that in August you will come back to school fired up about STEM! We hope STEM-itis catches on with other students and we can do the Academy again next summer!

Be on the lookout for ways to improve our Academy--isn't that what engineers do? At the end of your classes, we want to hear from you about what would make the three weeks of study better! Think about the field trips, the Mad Science, the blogs, the polinators and the parachutes!!

Happy studying and hang on! Your vacation is coming soon! You truly ROCK! Dr. (Elia) Diaz-Ortiz
